Blue Ridge Parkway

Devils Court House

The Devil's Courthouse, pictured above, is just one of the many sites you'll see on the Blue Ridge Parkway, a scenic roadway, which travels 469 miles to connect the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee. With elevations ranging from 650 feet to over 6000 feet be prepared for rapidly changing weather. You should allow 2-3 days to travel from the beginning to the end with frequent stops, so that you will be able to enjoy some of the wonders of the Parkway.  Bicyclists, Bird-watchers, Hikers, Photographers, and Siteseers all will enjoy the opportunities offered while traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The Blue Ridge scenic Byway also offers a natural phenomenon in the form of the mysterious Brown Mountain Lights. One of North Carolina's most famous legends, the actual source of these lights is still unsolved.
