Great Smoky Mountains Railroad
Bryson City, NC – The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad winds up, down, and around the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. With the main depot located in Bryson City, the railroad offers rides mainly to the Nantahala Gorge and Dillsboro lasting from 2 1/2 to 7 hours.
There are train cars that offer both enclosed and open air seating, along with a dinning car for the guest to enjoy along there ride. The open air cars allow for spectacular views and picture taking opportunities if you can stand the heat and humidity. However, if you are more for enjoying the view of the ride while remaining at a nice cool temperature, then I recommend an enclosed car.
The railroad offers various different themed trains throughout the year including the most popular “Polar Express”, followed by others such as the “Dinosaur Train” and “Charlie Brown’s Pumpkin Patch.” The railroad will sometimes host mystery dinner trains or wine and dine rides during different times during the year, and those are always a good choice for an evening out.
