Mingus Mill

Great Smoky Mountains National ParkLocated one half-mile north of the Oconaluftee Visitor Center is Mingus Mill. Built in 1886, this historic grist mill uses a water-powered turbine to power all of the machinery in the building. Located at its original site, Mingus Mill stands as a tribute to the test of time.

The water flows down a long millrace to the mill that you can hike up beside as far as you want. The parking lot is not far away from the mill but it still allows for a nice hike and is suitable for all ages.
